What a novel idea... a major studio has actually come up with an original idea, not a remake, not a book adaptation, etc.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walden Media has attached director Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Spiderwick Chronicles, Freaky Friday) to helm a project conceived at the studio about a 14-year-old boy who discovers he is the descendant of the great turn-of-the-century illusionist and escape artist Harry Houdini. He then embarks on a quest to uncover the many secrets that Houdini was trying to protect.
Okay, so it's a little bit like The DaVinci Code. But still, I just love the idea that it will bring Houdini back into the public consciousness. He's always held a certain fascination for me.
