What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Being trapped on an airplane once cellphones are allowed.

Where would you like to live?
I would have loved to live in Hollywood's ideal of New York City during the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

What is your idea of earthly happiness?
The scene in Brideshead Revisted where Charles Ryder and Sebastian Flyte drive out into the country and share the alpine strawberries and the 1899 bottle of Château Lafitte always seemed like a perfect moment to me. Perfect time, perfect place, perfect company.

To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
I tend to easily get lost in my love for old films and my research work... tending to ignore all else including those around me. I can also be socially shy, which makes it very hard to meet people.

Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
Sherlock Holmes, Superman, Tarzan, and the usual assortment of heroes from Greek Mythology

Who are your favorite characters in history?
George Eastman, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and that unknown, brave student in Tiananmen Square who stopped the line of tanks.

Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony

Wonder Woman, Hermione Granger, Jane Eyre

Maxfield Parrish

Your favorite musician?
John Williams, for one glorious movie score after another.

The ability to laugh at himself.

The ability to revel in her inner geek.
