Alexandre Aja, who I praised high and mightily in my review of The Hills Have Eyes here, has lined up his next project and I find myself highly disappointed. The Hollywood Reporter has Aja directing another horror movie next. This one is called Into the Mirror, and I am just going to quote the fuck out of my source on this one because I don't necessarily get it:
"The story follows a security guard at a high-end department store who begins to investigate mysterious deaths occurring in front of the stores' mirrors. He soon discovers that there are murderous reflections out for revenge."
What was that?
I guess this really doesn't sit well with me because Aja has been linked to a big screen adaptation of Charles Burns' excellent graphic novel Black Hole. As much as I enjoyed both Hight Tension and The Hills Have Eyes, I would really like to see Aja use that good eye of his to bring something fresh to the screen. But perhaps this is what the corporate weasels are requiring of him before he can break out of the mold a bit.
