One is a character drama set in a small Australian town, the other a comedy where a famous "Kazakh" goes to America to learn how he could help improve his own country. Trailers and websites are up for both films, and the news comes courtesy of Twitch.

Jindabyne, which stars Gabriel Byrne and Laura Linney, recently premiered at Cannes, and the only release date it has for now is July 20 in Australia.
From the official website:
The story of a murder and a marriage. A powerful and original film about the things that haunt us. On an annual fishing trip, in isolated high country, Stewart, Carl, Rocco and Billy ('the Kid') find a girl's body in the river. It's too late in the day for them to hike back to the road and report their tragic find. Next morning, instead of making the long trek back, they spend the day fishing. Their decision to stay on at the river is a little mysterious–almost as if the place itself is exerting some kind of magic over them. When the men finally return home to Jindabyne, and report finding the body, all hell breaks loose. Their wives can't understand how they could have gone fishing with the dead girl right there in the water–she needed their help.

Seems like a hard subject with an interesting twist. Laura Linney is not unfamiliar with character dramas, having starred in Mystic River, Kinsey, and The Squid and the Whale (see Jenny's review here). My personal favorite film on Linney's resumé is The Truman Show.
Gabriel Byrne is that wonderful actor who we wish would be in better films, but on those occasions when he does appear in these smaller more personal films, his talent is put on full display, with his often understated and subtle performances. I can recommend David Cronenberg's largely ignored Spider for not just a wonderful slice of Cronenberg, but also Gabriel Byrne's performance. Other Byrne favorites include Dead Man and of course The Usual Suspects.
Jindabyne is directed by Ray Lawrence, who did another character based drama a few years ago, Lantana, which I had thought had some original ideas and excellent performances (definitely for Anthony LaPaglia fans).

Borat: The Movie, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen as the titular Kazakh television reporter, will be released in the US on November 3 of this year.
From IMDB:
Kazakhstani TV talking head Borat (Cohen) is dispatched to the United States to report on the greatest country in the world. With a documentary crew in tow, Borat becomes more interested in locating and marrying Pamela Anderson.
The movie website with hilarious cheesy design, can be found here.
The trailer and other Borat videos, can be found at a fan site, here, or you can right-click save the trailer to your computer, here. <---- Thees ees verry funnee!
I don't know why, but it made me laugh a lot. I am not familiar with either Borat or Ali G.
