It's kind of weird that the success of movies like Spider-Man, Batman Begins and X-Men have now created a need for super-hero movies that are, like, not based on anything. This is kind of a fun idea for a couple of reasons. First, there are sometimes some pretty imaginative people in the movie industry. And also a studio can create a new character without 40 years of baggage that fandorks can't seem to shake. I love super stuff, so I don't mind seeing what Hollywood fancy-pantses can come up with in order to entertain the masses. So speaking of super stuff, Will Smith has one of these new fangled super-hero movies coming out called Tonight, He Comes.
I'll wait for your immature giggling to stop before I continue.
Thanks. The movie concerns a super-dude who crash lands in some podunk and falls in love with some local while he tries to revitalize his career or something. Well the movie is now lacking a director because Jonathon Mostow has left the project according to Variety. Mostow has done some cool stuff in the past like Breakdown, and U-571. He is leaving this project because of that old Hollywood lie 'creative differences'. Give me a break.
So what happens to the movie? Apparently Sony Pictures still has the film set to start sometime this Summer and I guess Mostow is going to retain an executive producer credit. Isn't that like failing upward? So now the mad dash is on to find a new director for the film. My guess is they hire Elf director Jon Favreau.
