The Fox Hype Machine is up and running as a teaser for the up-coming Simpsons movie is attached to Ice Age: The Meltdown.
Here's a description of the teaser, from The Hollywood Reporter:
The clip announces Fox's July 27, 2007, release date for "The Simpsons Movie." The animated 28-second clip opens on a giant superhero "S" shield. "Leaping his way onto the silver screen," intones a narrator, "the greatest hero in American history!" Cut to Homer sitting on his couch in his tighty whities and T-shirt. "I forgot what I was supposed to say," Homer says. The narrator continues, " 'The Simpsons Movie,' coming to the screen July 27, 2007." "Uh, oh ...," says Homer, "we better get started."
So, uhh. That's it eh? "We better get started".
What would have probably been more appropriate would have been, "Uh, oh... We'd better not suck."
I hope that the story is actually worthy of the big screen. I mean, I watch The Simpsons for free (when I do watch it, which is never minus 1) so they'd better make it something spectacular to get me to shell out my fifteen bucks to see this movie.
Now, South Park... There was a show that NEEDED to be a film.
If Team Simpson are smart, they'll make this an R-Rated film. And I mean a HARD R.
Let your mind wander over the possibilities.
You know they won't do it tho. You know it will be about Mr. Burns trying to take over the town, or a family road trip- OOh! Maybe they'll finally reveal where Springfield really is.
Here's a hint: It's in the state of "we don't give a shit".
