Last month we reported on an interview with Steven Spielberg, which included among several of his upcoming films, questions regarding the long-awaited Indiana Jones IV.
Now, as part of their 25 years of Indiana Jones celebration, Empire has managed to sit with the three main players of the Indiana Jones films: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Harrison Ford.
The bad news is that you would have to buy the latest issue of Empire, which will be released this Friday, on August 25 (in the UK I presume, but perhaps also North America).
Nevertheless, it seems that at least the highlights of the interview are available online:
“We’re basically going to do The Phantom Menace”, says Lucas [...]
“I discovered a McGuffin,” continues Lucas, still reluctant to name said McGuffin. [...]
“Hopefully it will be different in all the right ways and the same in all the familiar ways,” adds Spielberg.
As for timing, Lucas says that filming is scheduled for mid-2007, for a 2008 release but getting the gang back together is a tricky proposition.
About the McGuffin, Spielberg and Ford had not liked the idea, but Lucas stubbornly stuck with it. A couple of years later, Spielberg and Ford finally ceded and accepted to do the film. Yes, the delay was all George Lucas's fault.
The online version of the interview is available HERE.
