Swank and Butler to Star in Movie I'll Never See

Gerard Butler has just signed on to play Hillary Swank's dead husband in the saccharinely-titled P.S. I Love You.

Ugh... Who writes this stuff?

Cecelia Ahern, that's who.  She's the one to blame.  It's her novel that the movie is based on.  In the book, a grieving young widow discovers her late husband has left her a list of tasks revealed in 10 monthly messages that are intended to ease her out of grief and transition her to a new life.

Sort of a The Notebook via What Dreams May Come via Asimov's Foundation Trilogy.

Please.  Make the pain stop.

What stinks is that I just KNOW all of my girlfriends are going to want to go to this, with the hopes that by doing so, their lousy husbands will become better men.  I keep telling them not to hold their breaths.  Do like I did... throw the bums out and get your groove back.

I mean really... NO man would do this for his wife... they just don't have it in them.  Seriously.  It doesn't mean they're bad.  It just means they're MEN.

a more believable story

would be his ghost warding off would be suitors...and maybe some bit about some gold that his wife didnt know about that all the guys are really after.... cuz they all saw Boys Dont Cry so they already know hillary swanks secret. ... and the end has him coming back to life after a fight with the devil for the key to the golds safe deposit box...

I would leave my wife messages

suggesting hidden treasure, and when she follows the clues to where the treasure's buried, It'll be a big box of fruit punch kool-aid sachets. And she'll be all "God Damn!" and I'll be all "I kid, I kid" and then show her a real map to all the money I planned to spend on strippers if I hadn't died.
