Steve Irwin: 1962 - 2006

Thank you for the news, Dougie. Steve Irwin, known for his unfaltering energy and humor on his nature program, The Crocodile Hunter, died from the sting of a poisonous stingray early this morning (more details HERE).

He entertained, educated, and above all inspired with his original and humorous expression of the passion he felt for the animal kingdom. You will be missed, Steve.

he's my hero!

Even on the worst of my worst days of depression, I always cheered up watching Steve run around chasing animals he knew could kill him. Of course he'll be sorely missed, and I suppose we should be seeing some Best Of Steve Irwin DVDs coming soon. No doubt raising money for his zoo, good cause. :)

Wow!

Well... THAT'S depressing news to wake up to.  I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but he always seemed indestructible.  It's sad that his 2 kids are so young.

I remember when I was twlve sitting with my dad during a lightning storm watching his show. That was an awesome memory. My thoughts go out to his family. RIP

It's sad, that's for sure, but as the principal in the Breakfast Club said "you mess with the bull, you get the horns."

Proud

Two of the UK tabliods reported his death on their front pages with the word 'Crikey!'

Makes my proud to be British...
