I do not know anything about computer games, and usually do not have much interest in crazy action films because they make me dizzy. So this is why I didn't really care when I saw this announcement that the director for the film adaptation of Halo, which is a game where you shoot thousands of alien creatures, was going to be Neil Blomkamp.
And then I watched his short film, Alive in Joburg. Starship Troopers was a discovery I made thanks to my source of all geek things, Sofiane, and it had completely impressed me with its subtexts.
I thought Halo was somehow inspired by Starship Troopers? If Blomkamp's approach is anything similar to his Alive in Joburg, it could very well be not only one of the few action films I could enjoy, but perhaps something more as well.
I don't know who got the "scoop," but I saw this news on Twitch, so perhaps giving them some credit will earn for me some geek points!
