Sorvino Hits the "Road"

If you had told me that Mira Sorvino still had an active career, I wouldn't have believed you.  The former Oscar-winner seemed (at least to me) to drop off the face of the Earth after The Replacement Killers, but IMDB tells me she's still been active, with at least one project per year.

So I was all set to make a big deal about how Mira Sorvino returns to acting with her latest film, Reservation Road, when IMDB had to go and steal my thunder.  Oh well.

Sorvino will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, and Jennifer Connelly in the drama where Phoenix and Ruffalo play star-crossed fathers, with one killing the other's son in a hit-and-run accident.  Connelly plays Phoenix's wife, and Sorvino will play the ex-wife of Ruffalo.

Speaking of active careers, will someone please explain to me what is so special about Mark Ruffalo?  How in the world is this man making films?  I'm guessing it's simply because casting directors think it's funny that his name rhymes with "buffalo."  How do you spell "average?" R-U-F-F-A-L-O.
