Just ask Scarlett Johansson, and she'll tell you "there's just something about Mary." We've already told you that Scarlett will be playing Mary Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl (the one who gets to keep her head), and the Hollywood Reporter now says that she will also be taking on another Mary role in the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots, which plans to depict the antagonistic relationship between Queen Mary and her sister Queen Elizabeth I.
And we all know how THAT story ends (draws finger across neck and makes "schhkkkkk!" sound).
You know, I can't hear this story without laughing. Here in the library we still have a vinyl record section, if you can believe it. We also have an old Monty Python record called The Best (Worst) of Monty Python and it has a sketch called "Death of Mary, Queen of Scots."
It consists of a man asking "are you Mary, Queen of Scots?" and a man-woman saying "I am." The man then says "Take this, Mary Queen of Scots!" and then all you hear for 5 minutes is beating and crashing noises with the man-woman saying "ouch!" Finally, the noise subsides and he says "I think she's dead." and she says "no I'm not!" and the whole thing starts all over again.
