I reported last week that Arrested Development creator and show-runner, Mitch Hurwitz was burnt out on the show after three years of threatened cancelations. Well today Variety is reporting that Hurwitz has left the building, so to speak. And... well... This is a sad day. Even though Hurwitz says he is leaving because he has done all he can with the show, I can't help but feel that this is the end. Even though Hurwitz has told executive producer Ron Howard that he would make himself available as a consultant if Arrested Development gets picked up by Showtime, I am starting to think that the time has passed. Don't get me wrong here. I am all for writers and creators moving on when they feel like their projects are done. And truth be known, Arrested Development ended in such a place that it seemed more like a series finale rather than a season finale. It's just that this show was so darn funny, and there just ain't many of them around anymore.
I'll be over in the corner pouting.
SEE Y'ALL!
