Marvel Hates Me

So first let me apologize for not posting so much cause I am home and my dad has dial up and he is always online chatting with random weirdos and it sucks.  And I am doing other things to occupy my time and all, but yeah... I am totally bored.  One can only ride horses in 200 degree weather so much before you get the female equivalent of jock itch or something (I shall dubb this POON TANG SCRATCH).  But things aren't so bad I guess.  I mean, there is a little comic shop here and I can still go by and flirt with the dude who runs it and get to read stuff for free, but like the stuff I actually buy?  Oh man, is this news bad for me.

It seems Marvel has decided to delay one of the most riveting series it has produced in a while.  Civil War #4, which was supposed to ship like tomorrow is now delayed until September 20th!  That's a pretty hard blow for not only people who are into the story, but the series has actually picked up some mainstream attention, and now... nothing.

Let me say this though.  Comic books are an art form.  And would any of you really want to rush Da Vinci or one of those other artist guys when they are composing something that could be a total masterpiece?  Probably not.  So seriously, I totally hope Marvel is doing this to make sure the quality of Civil War is maintained and all.  But dang... I am really disappointed.  If you check out Newsarama, com, you'll see that not only is Civil War delayed, but like every other tie in and stuff is being delayed too.  Imagine if you were watching some stupid Law and Order crossover event on TV and instead of the show getting shown on time, you have to wait months not just for Law and Order, but like all the other shows that had to do with it.

Yeah, I am bummed.  But that's a totally natural reaction considering that Civil War is shaping up to be like the best comic event in a long time.  And on a personal level, I am totally ticked because I want me some more Thor and now I have to wait.  Stupid Thor and my undying love for him.

If you go to Newsarama, there are all kinds of theories being bandied about about how maybe Marvel is changing the story and stuff.  On the one hand, this could be really aggravating, but it would be totally cool if Marvel really surprised us all with something really challenging.

Whatever happens, I just hope the end product is as good as what we have seen so far.  But dang, am I totally pissed.

Guttermouths, the lot of ya

from "hairy werewolf boobies" to "POON TANG SCRATCH", i bet there are some people out there who would pay good money to read about both of those.

And Marvel doesn't hate you, they just like everyone else more than they like you. Maybe they've developed a new Virtual Reality comic that takes you right inside the story when you hold it. But they were testing it out, and accidentally lost Tom Arnold inside a comic when the fold of the paper was doubled up, so when you try to turn the page it ripped it just a little bit, which traps him inside.

I say leave him there, he cut into the line ahead of me at the pink lemonade stand back in '94, so I reckon he can just burn.

Tom Arnold?

We could only be so lucky...

Delays Suck

Civil War #4 which was supposed to ship today is being delayed until Sept. 20th!!! All titles tying into it have been pushed as well. It's nice of them pushing it until my birthday, but man that sucks.

They killed Spider-Man/Black Cat thanks to delays, by the time issue 4 came out in that series, I was over it. Same with House of M and just about every Marvel crossover since Secret Wars. I wonder what flak Quesada would be giving DC if it delayed 52 any given week.

It's like waiting 15 years for a new Star Wars movie, and we know how well those turned out. Delays kill anything. Hype builds too much and no matter how good the end product is, it can't match the hype.

Now... Let's talk about Duke Nukem Forever, shall we?

What's a Duke Nukem?

Nail on the head, Lycaeon

What you say about the hype building and building so high these days, almost nothing produced can actually deliver on it.  The summer blockbusters this year are a good example.

Duke Nukem

Was a game announced in 1993 follwing the successful Duke Nukem 3d. Though never officially cancelled it keeps popping up at E3 type events saying coming next year.

It's built so much press that if it ever comes out, it'll have to be damn good, since it's now more of a punch line than a hot expected title.
