George Lucas, whose name just happens to translate to "Flanneled Necksack" in Ewok language by the way, has donated $175 million to his old alma mater, the newly renamed University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, making it the largest single donation in the school's history.
It's nice to be appreciated, isn't it USC?
Lucas' gift, provided through his Lucas Foundation for furthering education, will be split into two parts, with $75 million used to construct new buildings and the other $100 million to provide an endowment.
"I discovered my passion for film and making movies when I was a student at USC in the 1960s, and my experiences there shaped the rest of my career," Lucas said in a statement. "I'm also an ardent advocate for education at all levels, and encouraging young people to pursue their ambitions by learning. I'm very fortunate to be in a position to combine my two passions and to be able to help USC continue molding the futures of the moviemakers of tomorrow."
Alright geeks... be honest. Which one of you WOULDN'T want to be the FIRST one to receive the "George Lucas Scholarship for Emerging Independent Filmmakers" or get to reside on campus in the "Mos Eisley Suite" in the "Lucas Building," where all the walls are covered with flannel?
You SO know you want it! Get those applications in early!
