"Lost" Numbers Revealed!!

Alright, Losties!  Did any of you play the online Lost Experience game?  If so, and you stuck with it, you got a HUGE payoff of September 8.  Specifically, a video explaining the mystery behind Hurley's magic numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.

SPOILERS!!

TV Guide has the scoop on what the Lost numbers mean, but the video has also been posted up on YouTube.  In a nutshell, the United Nations commissioned a mathematician to come up with a timetable for humanity's extinction... the numbers are based on factors represented by Egyptian heiroglyphics yadda yadda yadda... just go watch the video.

They also mention the secret behind "the virus," engineered by the Hanso Foundation to wipe out 30% of the world's population.

So how much do you wanna bet that it's all a bunch of malarkey and that the producers are just leading us on yet another wild goose chase?

Hmmm

I'd love to know what they're going to do about the two drunk-driving chicks that they worked into a couple of the backstories, now that they're off the show.

It's stuff like that which convinces me they're just making it up as they go along now, a la X-Files.

ethics

So that guy is all about sacrificing a few to save many. Like Travolta in Swordfish. Or Wrath of Khan. Or K-19. Or a hundred other films. I want dinosaurs and monkeys and dead celebrities in Season 3.

that doesnt make sense...

why would they have let Michael and his son leave then???

Druuna's picture
Maybe...

... they've infected Michael with the virus? Or infected Walt, and he's just a carrier, which is why they say "he's very special?"

the guy on the video said the dharma test failed

.. and that they were trying to make the virus only affect 30percent of the population.. so... walt said they did lots of testing on him... maybe they determined that he was someone that either could or couldnt carry it... i dont see the point of letting him go if the test failed and he had the virus... but then again.. it didnt say how the test failed.. maybe it actually affected 40 percent or something.... i dont know. we probably wont get answers till the 4th season.

I hope you're wrong

About this going the way X-Files did, but I think it probably will.

I suspect X-Files producers probably did have a finite story arc in mind when they started, but the ratings success and subsequent pressure to add more seasons led to them having to try and force in storylines that the original narrative was never designed to accomodate, and the fact that all the Lost principals have been tied up to long term deals seems to indicate that they are going the same way, which is a shame. I hope I'm wrong about this.

So, has anybody here played these numbers on a lottery?
