Jericho Town Hall

This is the place to be to discuss CBS' new drama Jericho, which some people seem to love while others feel it's wearing out it's welcome.

What's your opinion?

Just recently we had the radioactive rain that didn't seem to harm anyone in the town, but if you were unlucky enough to be just a few miles out, you became a hideous apocolyptic mutant freak, at Death's door.

And what of the mysterious Mr. Hawkins, who has the unfortunate role of being the only black person in town while at the same time being seemingly sinister?

And what about Skeet Ulrich?  Will Johnny Depp EVER get his DNA back?!?

Mutation

I think Mr Ulrich (I couldn't bring myself to type just Skeet) is slowly shedding his Deppness and begining to resemble Adam Sandler. Look out for it next time you watch...

OMG

You're right! What kind of freak genetic laboratory does Mr. Ulrich come from?!?

Morse Code

Does anybody out there know morse code?

There was a detective show in the UK called Inspector Morse that had clues about the killer in morse code over the theme music ever episode and I was wondering if Jericho was pulling a similar stunt.

Damn

Can I be over this show now? I just watched Wednesday night's ep, and it just screamed cheap, old-school CBS. Everything from the cinematography to the music said "this is your grandma's CBS." Ugh.

And then just when I decide that I hate this show, they hit you with the last image of the missiles streaking into the sky, and I'm all like "and they HOOK me again!"

jericho morse code

I only started noticing the morse code in the opening credits on Jericho last week, so I haven't translated all of them. The last two were "Theres a fire" and the one tonight was "The emp hits".

Morse Code translation

Thanks gr8rl6! And welcome, BTW.

The translations of the morse code highlight everything that bugs me about this show... the premise was so good, but the execution is so run-of-the-mill. Instead of providing interesting clues about what is happening, like Karma mentioned, they just tell you what you're about to see. It's like the "Friends" titles... "The one with the Fire." "The one with the EMP." "The one where Skeet saves the day... again!"

It gets worse

I did some digging and found that the first episode was "Jericho Pilot."  The 2nd was "Jericho Falls" referring to the fallout episode.  The 3rd was "Jericho Three."  The only interesting one was episode 4 which was "He Knows Rob" which gave a hint about the radioactive "mutant" as Leather Lass likes to call him.

Super Skeet

It is getting quite annoying how pretty much every disaster is averted by Skeet (c'mon, does anybody else feel weird typing that?). I think it would be a good idea to leave him in the background for a couple of episodes soon and develop some of the other characters a bit more.

I also liked how there was no mention of any of the people at the hospital that may have been depending on electical equipment when the EMP hit. I hope they got that lil baby off the ventalator...

...... hahaa...

JERICO MORSE CODE NOV 1

Tonights morse code was "PRAY FOR NYC"

Druuna's picture
SuperSkeet to the Rescue...

...again! He's a machine! Not a man!

And can I just say that I'm getting really tired of the closing musical montage that they do in EVERY episode? I always liked it when they parodied that in Lost where the batteries in Hurley's Walkman died and the music stops and he says "Aw, crap."

Again I ask you all... why do I still watch this show?

Jericho Morse code Nov 8

Tonights morse code read

"ROB NOT FBI"

Jericho star Sprague Grayden

One reason I watch this show is for Spraque Grayden. She is a native of the town I live in, Manchester by the Sea, Mass. Occasionally she shows up in town, during holidays etc.

I KNEW IT!

I thought... "no way is that guy FBI... it's a COVER!"

And then I thought how much I hate this show. And wondered why I keep watching it.

Worst. Bluescreen. EVER!

Jericho morse code tonight Nov 14

Tonights message "AOV SURPrise" Whatever that means.

Correction

"AOV SURPRISE"

AOV SURPRISE

I also translated it as AOV SURPRISE. No doubt the second letter was an O to me, but wikipedia lists the message as AM TV SURPRISE which is just as meaningless to me. Heard no references or saw no cues to tie it to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jericho_episodes

AOV Surprise

Wikipedia is wrong. The code is most definately AOV Surprise. So, what is AOV?

Wikipedia entry for 15 Nov now '1st Surprise'

1st Surprise does make sense. I never heard a '1'. There was a distinct pause between the 'A' and 'O'. Just bad code? Intentional to reflect an amatuer transmission? I had tossed up the possibility of 'st' instead of 'v' but that did not make sense to me earlier. So, what is the first surprise? That Eric Green told his wife and moved out; that Robert Hawkins has sniper skills; that Jonah Prowse came to Jericho's rescue; ... or something else?

has nuclear winter set in yet???

have they had to hollow skeet out like a tonton for warmth???

AOV SURPRISE vs other translations

Been gone a few days but was surfing tv.com :
http://www.tv.com/jericho/crossroads/episode/890508/summary.html

They list the code as AOV and translate it to Area Of Vulnerability (no explanation as to how they arrive at that). Okay, so the bridge is one vulnerability. The code was clear, it just didn't make sense then, so AOV it is for me.
