"Hulk 2" Not a Sequel!

SuperheroHype has a little tiny blurb about The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier's appearance on a French TV show where he said (and this is all hearsay) that the film would not be a sequel to Ang Lee's film and that the budget was set at $120 million. He also apparently mentioned that he's envisioning a nerdy, bookish, glasses-wearing Bruce Banner as the Hulk's alter-ego.

I love this story.

It's like... Marvel HATES the first Hulk movie SO MUCH that they just can't WAIT for the "do-over."  Not a sequel.  Just pretend like the first movie didn't even exist.  I can hear Avi Arad now...

"Hulk? What Hulk?  I see no Hulk!  There no Hulk!  Why everyone always ask Avi about Hulk?"

I for one am happy about this

Personally, I thought the first Hulk movie was pretty atrocious, with the occasional bright spot. While I don't want a movie that's nothing but "HULK SMASH!!" I would like something with a tad less navel gazing (and a whole lot less Nick Nolte...wow, what an awful performance).

Anyway, I'm also excited because I think Leterrier is an interesting choice to direct. He has a great visual style, and if "Unleashed (aka Danny the Dog)" is any indication, he can handle a story about a gentle soul cursed with a raging monster.

i loved that first hulk movie...and i thought nolte was great...

of course, everyone seems to have that whole nick nolte mug shot stuck in their heads... but if you think about it, he was filming the hulk when that happened.. anyway. i liked letterier from what ive seen from him, but i really cant imagine what he would do with the hulk.
