Empire Online has some fascinating movie news about Sir Anthony Hopkins. The distinguished actor has written a screen play and he plans to direct and compose the music for the feature. The film, currently title Slipstream, is about a screen writer who has an incredibly active imagination. So much so, in fact, that he regularly takes trips into his own imagination. Things get hairy when he begins a new mystery screenplay and characters from his imagination start intruding on the real world. The film will star Christian Slater, Gena Rowlands and Hopkins himself.
I recently saw an interview with Hopkins on Charlie Rose and I find his personality very appealing. He seems so at ease with himself, which is a miracle considering how volatile he was in his youth. In any case, I don't know if Hopkins has the talent to really pull this off, but I think it will be an interesting film if he affects it with his own persona. Slipstream begins filming this Summer in the Los Angeles area.
