According to Variety, via the Empire website, it seems that not only will there be YET another Hollywood remake (there is no point in counting these anymore, I think), but that Honorary Flixen Hilary Swank will be starring in it as well.
The film will be based on a French thriller entitled Labyrinth (2003), the script for which will be written by Russel Gewitz (The Insider).
The story:
[...]follows a mental patient suffering from multiple personality syndrome who can find a killer. The only problem is getting to the information.
Ok, I don't have too much energy to rant about what I think of remakes (even though I admit that some of them have been fairly good), but what I do have energy for is to sit in shock at the pitch for the story.
Hilary, what are you doing?
Multiple personality disorder?
Looking for a killer?
Will this become a battle between motorcycles and horses?
To reference Charlie Kaufman from Adaptation, we have one of the mystery-story clichés here already. If Hilary Swank is going to be the one suffering from multiple personalities, and if she is finally the killer, then I believe Charlie Kaufman will be feeling very sick.
And so will the rest of us.
The original film starred Lambert Wilson, whom most will know as the Marvinvengian character from at least one of The Matrix films, and Frédéric Diefenthal, from the original Taxi films.
There is still no director for the planned remake.
