Headey Lands "Sarah Connor" Role

Lena Headey has been cast as the lead in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which expands on the mythology of the Terminator films and takes place in the timeframe between Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, according to SciFiWire.

The project, from Warner Bros. TV is preparing a pilot for Fox, to be directed by David Nutter, who also directed James Cameron's Dark Angel pilot for the network.  Nutter also directed the pilots for Smallville, Without a Trace, and almost a dozen others that have all been picked up as full series orders.

"It's important for me to live up, as best I can, to the bar that Jim Cameron set," Nutter said back in August, adding that the pilot "has to carry as much of a punch" as possible, even on a TV budget.  "This is a huge project that's going to take an extensive amount of preparation and pre-production, [and I want to protect] the integrity of what Cameron created."

Headey will soon be seen opposite Gerard Butler in the feature film adaptation of Frank Miller's 300, where she will play Queen Gorgo.

Are they crazy?

Have they learned nothing from that supposedly abysmal Blade series (I say supposedly, as I haven't heard a good word about it, but not actually witnessed it myself). They managed to beat a trilogy out of the series with both Blade and Terminator, now what makes them think changing the cast and kicking any decent budget in the teeth is gonna make anything worth watching. Of course there are exceptions, but I don't hold out much hope for Connor. On a vaguely related note (if only that it's regarding other film and tv-related spin-off stuff), I read recently that prior to his death, Phil Hartman was trying to organise a live-action Troy McClure film. That may be the best film we've ever been denied.

Blade series

I thought it was okay, and it got better the longer it went on. Mr Sticky was no Snipes (thought right now that's probably a good thing), but he got stronger in the role towards the end. And I liked all the vampire clan infighting. Now if they would only do another series of Ultraviolet. I'm sure Jack Davenport's post PotC profile could make this possible.

Oh, and the Conner thing sounds stoopid...

Ultraviolet

FanTAStic series!  I absolutely LOVED that show and was dismayed to see it only consisted of 6 episodes.  At least, those are the 6 on the DVD I bought based on one of those Amazon.com "you might also enjoy" links.
