My, how Joseph Gordon-Levitt has matured. Watching him grow up as Tommy on NBC's 3rd Rock From the Sun, I feel like he's my unofficial third son... an idea I quickly have to dispel lest I feel "icky" about my other feelings for that cutie pie. There, I've said too much!
But for all of you Gordon-Levitt fans, you'll be happy to hear that he will be co-starring in Stop Loss, a new film from director Kimberly Pierce, based on true events surround the U.S. military's "Stop Loss" program, where soldiers that have returned home from Iraq get called back to duty again.
And get this girls... also starring will be pretty-boy Ryan Phillipe (a.k.a. Mr. Reese Witherspoon) and Timothy Olyphant, who every girl knows stars as Mr. Seth Bullock on HBO's Deadwood. Woohoo! Hunks-a-poppin'!
I am so there.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Phillipe will play Brandon, who returns home to Texas only to be re-enlisted into active duty. Olyphant will play Lt. Col. Boot Miller, a no-nonsense military man who, serving as Brandon's commanding officer, welcomes the troops home from Iraq but then orders their re-enlistment.
And what about our boy Gordon-Levitt? He will play a soldier who returns home to a failing marriage and has the most difficult time readjusting. A perfect role for this fine young man, who has taken on some very atypical roles since 3rd Rock.
He's like the Johnny Depp of his generation.
