From TV Guide, via Dark Horizons, "Brazilian hunk" Rodrigo Santoro will be joining the cast of television super-show Lost for its third season, which will begin on October 4 of this year.
Lost producer Damon Lindelof said:
On [Lost], what you see is never what you get... He's certainly not interested in being the hunk on the show, nor are we interested in writing that for him. Although I think when people start to see him and surmise what role he's going to play on the show, that's the place they're going to go to.
Santoro is a very beautiful man, and he made a fairly beautiful woman in Carandiru. I wouldn't call him a "hunk" necessarily, because he has a very androgynous look to him.
Besides the Brazilian film Carandiru:
Santoro is best known to western audience for his small roles like a hot surfer/killer motorbiker in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle", and Laura Linney's office crush in "Love Actually".
He also appeared as the man infatuated with Nicole Kidman in Baz Luhrmann's Chanel advertisement.
You can also look for him as the Persian emperor Xerxes in the film adaptation of Frank Miller's 300, which will be a guilty pleasure for many women, I suspect, as naked and sweaty men slap each other in the night time.
300 will be released in North American cinemas on March 17, 2007.
And here is our man as Lady Di from Carandiru:
