Newsarama.com has a brief interview with Laurell K. Hamilton. Hamilton is the creator of the Anita Blake vampire executioner novels. For the unititiate, Blake is a little more than an R-rated erotically charged Buffy. She has the ability to raise people from the dead to settle legal disputes and such. In Anita's world, all those creepy things that go bump in the night like vampires, werewolves and Keebler elves are real. Because of this the laws of the land have been developed to deal with the issue of these monsters. Newsarama offers up this interview because the Dabel Bros. (who?) are adapting the Anita Blake novel Guilty Pleasures into a comic which sees release this Summer.
Blake's adventures are a mixture of horror, eroticism and suspense. I read many of the novels and was constantly surprised by the violence. If you are a fan of dark materials, check out the interview. You can also see some art from the book, which in my esteemed opinion, looks pretty damn good.
