Dexter's Blood-Splattered Lab

Like Cinephile, I too have become strangely addicted to Showtime's Dexter, the serial killer who kills serial killers.  Leather Lass' description is as follows:

"This Showtime show isn't getting a lot of attention, but it's worth a peek.  David Hall of Six Feet Under plays the titular Dexter.  By day he is a blood splatter specialist for Miami PD, but he spends his evenings as a serial killer.  But it's okay really because he's a serial killer who only kills serial killers.  Thanks to an astute foster dad, Dexter was put on the right track early in life to use his destructive tendencies to take out a few of his own.  This show is creepy fun with lots of bloody and sudden cuts to the face and decapitated heads.  Yes!  It's that good."

This is the place to discuss all the gory details!

Yay

Finally one of these TV show things I can talk about. I absolutly loved Six Feet Under, and loved David Hall's acting in it, so when I saw they had the first two episodes online I felt the urge to watch them. Man was I hooked. He's not a likable guy is the weird thing. You know his personality is all a ruse to keep his friends from finding out his secret. The best parts are most definetly when he is playing with his girlfriends children, for a while you like the guy then realize hey he just got back from dismembering a guy and a chill goes up your spine. It is interesting to just watch this kinda show, its CSI meets Millinium and its good.

New Thread Request.

These dedicated threads for the TV shows are cool, but is there any chance we could have one specifically for making fun of Wesley Snipes and his IRS problems?

They should hire Tommy Lee Jones to track him down like in US Marshals...

I'm liking this show...

...despite some clunky writing and one-note acting on just about everyone's part BUT Dexter.  Things seem to be improving though as everyone is finding the right tone to take.

I am also concocting a theory that Dexter's sister is the Ice Truck Killer.  Think about it...

Ice Truck Killer

I had been thinking along similar lines about the ITK being Dexter's sister (especially considering their father's approach to his childrens 'special needs') up until the scene where she checked out the wood panelled station wagon with the two guys sitting inside. I don't think that scene would make any sense if she was the killer, as I doubt she would be investigating a lead that she knew didn't really exist.

It does seem likely that the killer is somebody that knows him though. I was thinking it might be one of the other pathologist guys.

That's just it though...

Her reaction to the wood-panelled station wagon could be seen as her thinking "WTF?" upon seeing it, and wandering over to see just what was going on with it, i.e. whether it was a police plant, or a copycat killer, or who knows what.  It surprised her, either way.

What I want to know is...

... who is giving Denise Crosby career advice? Her garden gnome?? She looked like a sausage in that plastic wrap scene.

Dexter's Sister

Come on... she's TOTALLY the ice truck killer.

Broken record

OK, I'm still not unconvinced that she isn't the ice truck killer. Something's up with that... although now they're throwing a red herring at us with Dex's GF?? What bothers me is that the killer obviously knows Dexter, but he doesn't seem bothered by this fact? Or the fact the killer was in his apartment? Hmmm...

Another thing that bothers me is the fashions for the flashbacks. If you figure the show takes place in the present day, then the flashbacks to Dexter's teenage years must be in the 1985-1990 range. There's no way he'd be wearing a tuxedo like that to his prom, I don't care HOW weird, geeky, or nerdy he is. What did he do? Borrow his dad's old high school prom tux?

And how come there isn't a Weeds discussion topic? AWESOME finale the other night!

Still not convinced it's his sister.

I don't think a serial killer would do something as compassionate as getting the hooker for the guy in the hospital.

If it is her though, I wonder if she's somehow doctored the lozenger wrapper to incriminate Dexter.

It's the siiiiiissssteeeeeerrrrrrrr....

Come on. It has to be.
