Del Toro TV Proposal a "Strain"

Director Guillermo Del Toro talked to SciFiWire a little bit about his propsed television series for Fox... a dark fantasy show called The Strain.  It's a horror show, "a really nasty, nasty fantasy. ... My deal is with Fox, and we're in the process of developing the story and seeing if we see eye to eye," says Del Toro.

He went on to say "I already wrote the bible and the character arcs for each character and so forth, so I'm doing all the documents on it."

As far as divulging the major plot or hinting at what the basic gist of the show would be, he played coy.  "It's too early on, the very early stages of that."

He also talked a bit about his vision for entertainment's future, saying that it essentially lies in video games. "I think that that's the where the future of storytelling is going to go to, a hybrid form that encompasses all of the narrative forms that we now know," he said. "TV, video games, movies, all of these into one."

Grrrr...

I wish directors would stop banging on about the future of storytelling being interactive. Don't they get that the passive nature of sitting back and letting other people take you somewhere is a big part film/television?

I guess that given that most directors are control freaks, it makes sense that they want to jump straight into every narrative they encounter and start guiding things, but really interactivity is only going to be the future of certain types of story.

Is anybody really hoping for the Schindlers List interactive experience? Or maybe the chance to 'actually be' Jodie Fosters character in The Accused...

i have a friend...

her mom is an art teacher. at this one school she used to work at, they asked her draw pants on the characters in that book about the elves making shoes at night for the cobbler...

Naked Elves?

Why were they making shoes in the nude? The elves had pants on in my edition... DAMN the vast right-wing Evangelical conspiracy!

Dougie?!?

Okay Dougie? Where are you hiding? Surely you must have some insight on this?

Elves?

Seeing as Druuna is missing me so, elves should wear pants, for fear that the more well endowed little guys may end up 'dragging their transmission', so to speak.

Hmmm...

Would a well-endowed elf be hung like an averaged-sized man? Or is it like those midget porn movies where everything's small except the guy's head and the whatsit?

These are the issues we should all be concerned about...

Where have you been Dougie?? Your country needs you.

druuna??

how often are you caught watching midget porn???
