Day of the Dead re-make RUNNING to theatres

Us fans of the 2004 re-make of Dawn of the Dead have a reason to celebrate today.  They've announced that they will be re-making George Romero's third zombie classic, Day of the Dead.

Ving Rhames returns, along with new cast mates Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon.  Details of the script aren't out, so it's not sure how it will compare to the original Day... It's also not clear how Ving Rhames survived the ending of Dawn... uhh... spoilers.

This time out, Jeffrey Reddick (reddick?) will write the script, and Steve Miner (Halloween: H20) will direct.

I'm cautiously excited.  I mean, Zack Snyder had made NOTHING before DOTD, whereas Steve Miner made H20... Which is worse? Nothing, or H20?

Who cares, bring on the running (as apposed to shuffling) zombies!!

I wasn't a fan of the Dawn remake...

and the original was probably my favourite of the "of the Dead" movies. I probably will end up seeing this though, as I love me my zombie films.

Not even the first 30 minutes?

I'll admit that the re-make pales in comparison to the original, but come on... The first thirty minutes of that film were probably the most exciting thirty minutes of any horror film.

it just doesn't hold up through the entire film, that's all.

okay, I'll fold

I'll give you the first half hour, but that's it. You're lucky I've been sitting out in the sun all day mixing my drinks, or I'd remember the fact that the remake zombies could run, and disagree with you again.
