It was known as The City of Golden Armor, but since June it has become known as Curse of the Golden Flower, and yet one thing remains the same: Zhang Yimou's latest film appears to be a luscious production, and the trailer is certainly golden!

The film stars Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li as emperor and emperess respectively, and it is quite evident from the trailer why this is the most expensive Chinese film production in history.
Where Hero was Yimou's love letter to empires, and House of Flying Daggers was his love letter to love, Curse of the Golden Flower has a very operatic feel to it. The film will be released on September 22 in China, and some time in December for North America.
