"Crood Awakenings" for "Flushed" Duo

The co-directors of the upcoming Flushed Away, Sam Fell and David Bowers, have said that Aardman Animations' next collaboration with Dreamworks will be Crood Awakenings, a stop-motion caveman epic written by John Cleese.  Cleese will provide the voice of Crood, who is the caveman who digs us out of our revolutionay quagmire by discovering things like fire.

Now, now... before you get all excited, let's just see how Flushed turns out first... While there are amusing moments in the trailer, I'm a bit un-thrilled by the quality of the CGI, which looks a bit pre-Toy Story quality if you ask me.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Nick Park's animated features, and I even enjoyed Chicken Run for the WWII British escape parody that it was... but the common denominator there was Nick Park.

Fell and Bowers are an untested element here... and the trailer looks VERY unpolished.  I'm hoping that it was an early trailer and that the actual CG quality is better in the finished product.

Unless of course the film is MEANT to look like that, i.e. going for a stop-motion look instead of a smooth CGI look, then my whole argument gets blown out of the water.

However, there is hope... John Cleese, is arguably the funniest Python of all, and his Basil Fawlty is a creation of sheer genius.  GENIUS, I say!

And Fell says that like Flushed Away, the Crood will feature hilarious jokes at the expense of the French. Check out SciFiWire for the full story.
