Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast of Craig Gillespie's offbeat indie film Lars and the Real Girl, according to Variety. She'll play the "real girl" opposite Ryan Gosling's "Lars."
The script, written by Nancy Oliver, concerns a delusional young man who orders a sex doll from the internet and falls in love with her, telling people that she is his girlfriend. Emily Mortimer plays Lars' sister-in-law who, along with Lars' brother, try to help him accept reality.
Sort of a Mannequin for today's generation, no? They should have cast Kim Catrall instead. How funny would THAT be!? Considering Clarkson's age, Catrall would be just right.
Clarkson has been in a lot of things, but TV viewers may know her from her multi-episode stint on NBC's Frasier as "Claire French," Frasier's semi-regular and oft put-upon girlfriend.
