Brad Pitt To Do the "Impossible"?

One of the online British tabloids, ThisIsLondon.co.uk, is reporting that the Mission: Impossible franchise is so important to Paramount (who recently ended their relationship with Tom Cruise), that they'll do anything to keep the franchise going strong, including bringing in Brad Pitt and making him the highest-paid actor in history!

Pitt won't slip into the role of Ethan Hunt, a la the many actors who have appeared in the James Bond franchise.  Rather, he'll play an entirely new role, as "a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists," according to sources.

The mission, should Pitt choose to accept it, would be worth close to £21 million, which is about $40 million with today's exchange rate.  Pitt, whose Plan B production company is housed at Paramount, is the biggest star under the company's wing now that Cruise is gone.

Cruise was famously "let go" recently after Sumner Redstone, head of Paramount, said that the actor had committed "creative suicide."

Mmmmm.... Pitt.

Not since Mel Gibson has a man aged this gracefully. Hopefully he won't go down in a drunken, anti-semitic tirade though... I mean, look what happened to Gregory Peck.

Dammit!

I already put a post up here saying how they should do this franchise. Doesn't the top brass at Paramount read this site or something? Am I wasting my time?

Bring back

John Woo! He's done JC, Travolta, Cage, Cruise and Affleck, now it's time to pretty up the Pitt. Honestly, who could resist Brad striding down a corridor in a loose trenchcoat and sunglasses in slow-motion, holding a gun in each hand, while doves take flight behind him? I'm sure the girls will coo like I do at those multiple close-ups as the actor is revealed behind a door or similarly sliding object. I mean, seriously, was MI: 2 really that bad? Wait, don't answer that.

Woo!

There was already plenty cooing in MI:2 with all those damn doves that John Woo seems so obsessed with flaping all over the place...
