One of the online British tabloids, ThisIsLondon.co.uk, is reporting that the Mission: Impossible franchise is so important to Paramount (who recently ended their relationship with Tom Cruise), that they'll do anything to keep the franchise going strong, including bringing in Brad Pitt and making him the highest-paid actor in history!
Pitt won't slip into the role of Ethan Hunt, a la the many actors who have appeared in the James Bond franchise. Rather, he'll play an entirely new role, as "a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists," according to sources.
The mission, should Pitt choose to accept it, would be worth close to £21 million, which is about $40 million with today's exchange rate. Pitt, whose Plan B production company is housed at Paramount, is the biggest star under the company's wing now that Cruise is gone.
Cruise was famously "let go" recently after Sumner Redstone, head of Paramount, said that the actor had committed "creative suicide."
